Taping

Taping

What is (kinesiological) taping? The kinesiological tape was developed by Dr. Kenzo Kase developed. It is made of elastic, stretchable material that clings to the surface of the body and, thanks to this elasticity, can go with the tissue without restricting the movement of the body. Depending on the system technology, it can stimulate / relax muscles, loosen fascia, support joints (without restricting the movement of the joint and muscles; e.g. knee, elbow joint). The everyday life of our animals is not restricted by the tape; it can be worn while walking, sleeping, exercising, bathing and whatever else enriches the lives of our dogs and horses. How does taping work? Kinesiological taping is a great treatment that can do a lot of good things in the tissue. But these tapes are always preceded by an animal physiotherapy diagnosis and treatment. The tape is a supplementary measure to additionally support, strengthen and extend the actual treatment and thus to make the effect of the treatment last longer. It can also be effective on its own, but it has its best and most lasting effect if you massage, loosen, mobilize, activate, stretch, and so on, depending on the findings. The glued, stretched tape contracts with the skin in the so-called zero position. It takes the tissue underneath and pulls it together slightly. As a result, the layers of tissue are pushed together and slightly raised (lifting effect). This effect creates space in the fabric layer below. Vessels can dilate, blood and lymphatic fluid can flow better, and breakdown products can be better removed. The result is better blood circulation in the tissue, better supply of nutrients, minerals, and oxygen (s), which continues into the deeper tissue layers. The tape can thus help to reduce pressure and pain, improve circulation, support joints and muscles and improve body awareness. How is taping used? The tapes are applied differently depending on the findings. It is important that it is individually cut and attached for each animal. The affected area (s) of the body is disinfected in front of the tape system and body fat is removed. Long-haired dogs have to be shaved on the spot in order to develop the effect of the tape properly so that the tape can be attached to the skin. The tape is then stuck on and remains there for four to five days or until it peels off and the effect wears off. Possible indications - Muscular problems - Facial problems - Osteoarthritis - Swelling - Joint instability - Trigger points - Tendon damage, sprains / strains of the extremities - Scar tissue - Pain Possible contraindications - Skin diseases - Open wounds - Fever - Local infections - Pregnancy - Malignant tumors - Incompatibility - Coat length ( Indirect contraindication; fur must be shaved at the affected area) - Tolerance of the dog / horse (indirect contraindication) If you are interested, please send me a message to info@tierisch-gesund.com and we will then discuss everything else.
